This was a fun lock down competition set up by the MOOO Architecture design comp group to raise money towards the world health organisation. The brief was simple, to design the ideal “isolation” work and living space for 2 people. I took a spin on the brief, as I often do and so I imagined the idea a moveable and adaptable off grid Isolation space. A living and work space for designers, makers, tinkers, bodgers, writers, artists, bloggers, vloggers and all kinds of creative folk.
The design is broken down into two main components, a converted campervan for 2 people and a towable workspace which can be completely adapted to suit different professionals.
The 2 spaces were designed to be completely separated to adjust to the peaks and troughs of the COVID lock down situation. The trailer workshop can be towed on the back of campervan and taken away to spots that are more isolated from high risk areas.
When in lock down, the space can then be unfolded and adapted allowing the creative professional to continue work whilst being hunkered down for weeks or months at a time. When the quarantine is lifted the workshop can then simply be packed away and taken closer to urban locations, craft shows or festivals etc or securely locked away in storage ready for the next potential lock down…
